Audubon - Animals |
| Audubon began work on the Quadrupeds of America even before he had completed the royal octavo birds. He issued an Imperial folio work of 'The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America' in 1845-1848. After that, he began work on a smaller octavo size work entitled The Quadrupeds of North America, which is the work offered here. Editions were published beginning in 1849 and continuing through 1870. Virtually all the editions are the same with original hand coloring of the stone lithographs by J.T Bowen of Philadelphia. |
